Part of the meaning of the name “A Patch Wilder” is a reference to the patchwork effect of providing safe spaces for nature right across a landscape. To celebrate this patchwork effect, we complied a list of 100 wild places within a 45-minute drive of APW and then plotted them on a map along with a bit of information about each site.

These include some of the best reserves in the country as well as a number of hidden little gems. The distribution of the 100 Wild Places is generally oval because of the influence of the M5 motorway on travel times. Please note, not all of these sites are fully publically-accessible – some are private or require tickets or permits to enter. If unsure, please stick to the rights of way shown on the map in green.

This project is a work in progress so if you have any suggestions or recommendations then please do get in touch via email or social media!

Happy exploring!
